Applications
Aside from its importance in the manufacture of other chromium chemicals, sodium dichromate also has many direct uses as an ingredient in the production of:
69% Sodium Dichromate Solution (SDS)
SDS is a convenient and cost-effective method of shipping bulk quantities without the need for manual handling or crystal dissolving. Elementis accounts for over 90% of worldwide SDS shipments with deliveries organized from our plant in Castle Hayne, North Carolina.
70% Sodium Dichromate Solution (SDS)
Sodium Dichromate Dihydrate
Sodium Dichromate Dihydrate (SDD) Sodium dichromate dihydrate crystal is ideal for use in most conditions including high temperature applications such as ceramic glazes and colored glass.
Harder than other metal oxides, such as titanium or iron, chromic oxide is ideally suited to environments where temperature and process conditions are aggressive.
Accrox R
The major use of Chromic oxide Accrox R is in the refractory industry. Chromic oxide is added to bricks, mortars, ramming mixes, gunning mixes, etc. to increase the life of refractory materials.
In the UK, Accrox R is also produced as a ceramic grade.
Accrox C
The major use of Chromic oxide Accrox C is in the refractory industry. Chromic oxide is added to bricks, mortars, ramming mixes, gunning mixes, etc. to increase the life of refractory materials.
Metallurgical grade
Manufactured using a unique process, our chromic oxide product is a high quality metallurgical grade.
When mixed with aluminium and potassium dichromate, using the alumino-thermic process, chromic oxide produces high purity chromium metal. This is a vital ingredient in the production of the high performance super-alloys used in the aerospace industry.
Metallurgical 'A' grade
A fine dark green powder. When mixed with aluminium and potassium dichromate, using the alumino-thermic process, chromic oxide produces high purity chromium metal. This is a vital ingredient in the production of the high performance super-alloys used in the aerospace industry.
Pigment grade
Elementis Chromium produces the widest range of pigment grade chromic oxides on the market.
Compared to other green pigments, chromic oxide gives excellent light fastness, durability, stability and performance. It is also unaffected by acids, alkalis and solvents.
Key Applications:
Elementis Chromium produces a comprehensive range of chrome pigments, used in paints, surface coatings, enamels and in many construction materials. It is also popular for tennis courts and plastics masterbatches.
G-4099
A light yellowish-green powder which is also available as a higher purity material that meets Food and Drug Administration approval and CTFA specifications for cosmetic use.
G-5099
An intermediate green pigment specifically formulated to expand the range of pigment shades available. This grade is jet milled (micronized) in order to improve pigment characteristics.
G-6099
A bluish-green powder that is the darkest shade chromic oxide pigment available with strong tint strength. Also available as a high purity version that meets Food and Drug Administration approval and CTFA specifications for cosmetics.
G-8599
A dark green pigment with high infrared reflectance specifically formulated for use in camouflage coatings. It is easily dispersed in and compatible with the resin systems specified for camouflage coatings.
G-4090
A light green powder, specifically developed as a cost-effective, high value product for applications that do not require the level of specifications typically demanded of high performance pigments. GA-4090 is more yellow than GA-6090.
G-6090
A darker green powder than GA-4090, specifically developed as a cost-effective, high value product for applications that do not require the level of specifications typically demanded of high performance pigments.
GH-9869 Chrome hydrate
A blue green colour hydrated version of chromic oxide which meets Food and Drug Administration approval.
M100
A light yellowish-green shade of the chromic oxide pigment.
