Original member and supporter of the Lower Cape Fear River Program. This program is a scientific based study that looks at the health of the Cape Fear River System. The program is headed by the Center for Marine Science Research at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. In addition to it's scientific charter, the program is a teaching tool used to educate the public and in the public school system. |

The Castle Hayne facility manages a natural area of 322 acres for camping by Scouts. The area includes nature trails and basic camping sites. The site also routinely supports and participates in area Earth Day activities. |
